1. What We Take On: Three Tests

CQI is a third-party inspection company focused on consumer goods and light industrial products made in China. Before we accept a shipment, we ask three questions:

1. Is there a clear standard? — Spec sheet, drawing, approved sample, or a recognized GB / ISO / ASTM / EN standard.
2. Can it be verified on site? — Visual check, measurement, function test, and sampling.
3. Is the risk manageable?

If the answer is yes, we can do it. In short: if China can make it and you can define the standard, CQI can inspect it.

Our limits

We do not cover minerals, agricultural bulk, energy, heavy industry or construction supervision. Where a statutory qualification is required — CCC / CE certification, EMC chamber testing, RF testing, full chemical panels — or where the product is heavily regulated (food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics formulations, dangerous goods, special equipment), CQI refers the work to partner laboratories with CNAS / CMA or ILAC-recognized accreditation. We do not claim credentials we do not hold. Orders involving regulatory evasion, forged certificates, counterfeit brands or undefined criteria are declined outright.

Child-specific checks include drawstring safety (EN 14682), small-part pull force and sharp edges. Chemical and safety items — formaldehyde, azo dyes, heavy metals, flammability, OEKO-TEX, CPSIA, EN 71 — are screened on site and, where testing is required, sampled, sealed and sent to an accredited lab. CQI never judges chemistry by eye.

How CQI is different here

We do not treat inspection as “counting loose threads.” Before we start, we align on the standard: approved sample, size chart, trim card, test reports and packing specs — so the checklist states exactly what counts as a defect, how defects are graded, and what the acceptance level is.

For peak seasons, fast reorders and high-SKU programmes, we combine DUPRO (during production) + PSI (pre-shipment) so problems are caught at cutting, sewing or finishing — not after the cartons are sealed.

How CQI is different here

We accept projects that are non-standard but definable. Many SME buyers have only a target market, a reference sample and a marketplace rulebook — no formal spec. CQI turns that into a one-page inspection baseline: defect grading, sample size, critical dimensions, test sequence, acceptance level, photo evidence and non-conformance handling.

Independence stays intact, the factory knows exactly how to rework, and the buyer knows the risk boundary. Because hardlines buyers often run many SKUs in small quantities, we also support multi-category inspection in a single order, spreading the cost across the visit.

How CQI is different here

Our value is not “we can also test CE.” It is connecting the dots — certificates, test reports, BOM and critical component list, factory inbound materials and the actual shipped goods.

The most common problem for SME buyers is not a missing report; it is a report for Model A-100 while the shipment is A-100B, a key component changed without notification, an outsourced adapter with no matching approval, or labels applied incorrectly. CQI inspectors run a four-way check — document / sample / production / packaging — flag every high-risk mismatch, and state whether retesting or a restricted sales region is needed.

Because electronics decisions are time-critical, CQI issues the English report within 24 hours of inspection.

These are judged against the customer’s drawings and specifications, using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, hardness testers, coating-thickness gauges and torque / tension gauges. Standards can be aligned to GB, ISO, DIN, ASTM or JIS. CQI also provides First Article Inspection (FAI), in-process inspection, resident line follow-up, outsourced SQE support and 8D corrective-action closure.

3. What We Share With Every Reputable Inspection Company

Same methods, same standards: AQL sampling (ISO 2859-1 / ANSI ASQ Z1.4 / GB/T 2828.1), three-level defect classification (Critical / Major / Minor), and the standard service points — pre-production meeting, first article confirmation, DUPRO, PSI, container loading check (CLC) and factory audit.

Like every credible third party, CQI is independent of both factory and buyer. Reports are never adjusted for commercial reasons. We do not reinvent the standards.

4. What Makes CQI Different

1. Focus, not full coverageWe put all our resources into consumer goods. Many companies claim industrial, mining, petrochemical and automotive coverage, but in practice deliver little more than “photograph and record.”CQI concentrates on three categories, with inspectors organised into fixed Textile, Hardlines and Electronics teams, each working long term on one product family. 2. Specialists from the factory floor, not from a training classMost CQI inspectors have 5+ years in factory QC or production engineering, many as QC supervisors. They know not just how to check but why a defect happens — and can tell an isolated process fluctuation from a systemic one.Supported by blind-sample re-checks, double review, randomised assignment and signed integrity agreements. Factory transport and hospitality are strictly prohibited.
3. Flexible schedulingStandard booking 48 hours; urgent orders 24 hours; confirmed today and on site tomorrow in the fastest cases. Small batches, high SKU counts and multi-factory consolidated orders are all accepted, including multi-category inspection in one visit.Large institutions run long, templated processes where small orders queue last — or are simply not prioritised.
4. The customer’s standard winsYour specification is the primary criterion; we do not force a generic template. Where standards conflict, we clarify in writing and keep the record — no misjudged rejections. If you only have a reference sample and marketplace rules, we build the one-page inspection baseline first, then inspect.
5. Reports you can act on, not just PASS / FAILEvery CQI report contains time- and location-stamped site photos, quantified measurements, defect classification (Critical / Major / Minor), the clause each judgement rests on, and the inspector’s field notes.On top of that: root-cause inference, rework or sorting options, impact on lead time and cost, and a ship / hold recommendation. Draft the same day, final report within 24 hours.You may disagree with our conclusion — but you will always have the facts to make your own decision. A CQI report is written for three readers: the buyer who needs to see the risk, the factory who needs to fix it, and the forwarder or marketplace who needs the record.

8. Honest limitsWhere laboratory testing is required, we say so, take sealed samples and issue a limited-scope report. We never dress up experience as a certification, and we never write “guaranteed pass,” “equivalent to certification” or “guaranteed customs clearance.”

5. Two Comparisons

Versus the large international groups

They are strong on brand authority, global networks and in-house laboratories — the right choice when a big order needs a name behind it. But their fees are high, processes slow and customisation limited, and appetite for small, fragmented orders is low.

Versus typical small local inspectors

Most cover a single category or basic visual checks only, without a complete standards framework, and unfamiliar with EU and US-specific compliance — which leads to missed or wrong findings and, ultimately, blocked customs clearance.
